I can’t believe I’m heading into my 7th summer as the BHAC head coach. I’ve been teaching 7th grade Math and coaching the swim team at Derby Middle School for the past 19 years. I’ve also been coaching in the NSSL for over 20 years. I also coach club swimming in the winter for Atlantis Swimming. I swam competitively for 12 years with teams at Heart of the Hills Swim Club, OLY, and Rochester Adams HS before moving on to my freshman year at Oakland University where I was an All-American. Outside of the pool I am a huge Detroit sports fan and enjoy watching football and hockey in the winter and Tigers baseball in the summer. A fun fact that most people don’t know about me is that during my first year swimming at HHSC, when I was 7 yrs old, I was disqualified in every meet swimming the 25 Butterfly – UNTIL the last meet which was at BHAC! I’m really excited about our upcoming season and can’t wait to spend the summer with the great swimmers and families at BHAC!
I have coached age-group swimming in the area for over 20 years! I coach during the short-course season for Atlantis. I graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a Bachelor’s and Master’s in education in 1994 and 2001. I have been teaching for 20 years in the Dearborn Public Schools system. I am looking forward to summer fun with the BHAC swim team again this year!
I have been coaching young swimmers since I graduated with a degree in Kinesiology in 2004 from Michigan State University. I have taught swim lessons and coached for Atlantis, Motor City Aquatics, BAC, Goldfish, and BHAC. I have a background in sports medicine and injury prevention. I think to think of myself as an energetic coach who tries to inspire athletes to do their best. In addition to helping coach the BHAC swim team, I have been running the BHAC pre-team and will do so again this year! I am excited to be back with BHAC!
Summer 2017 will be my 2nd year as a BHAC assistant coach. I am entering my senior year this coming fall at Oakland University, which will also be my final year of competitive swimming. I am an Oakland University and Horizon Conference Record Holder, 6 time All Conference designee, as well as a member of the Conference Championship Teams of 2015–2016 and 2016-2017. Most recently, I was named to the Horizon Conference Academic All League Team for the 2016-2017 season.
I swam competitively at BHAC from age 8 to 18 and have so many great Shark memories. It is really fun for me to have been coached by Tom and now coach alongside him and the rest of the staff! I grew up locally and swam year-round for BBA, MCA and was a four-year varsity swimmer and senior captain for the Groves Emerald Tide Women’s Swim Team. Outside of the pool I stay very active playing with my dogs, hanging out with friends and traveling a little bit when I get the chance. I am majoring in Elementary Education at OU and really enjoy the experiences I have coaching and giving swim lessons to the kids, so this is the perfect job for me! I am looking forward to another successful summer season with the amazing BHAC swimmers and families!
This summer will be my first year as a BHAC assistant coach! I just finished my first year at the University of Michigan studying pre medicine. Last summer was my last year swimming for the Sharks. I have been a part of the BHAC swim team as long as I can remember. The team spirit and energy has always been one of my favorite parts about this team. Aside from the Sharks, I was a four year varsity swimmer for the Groves swim team as well as senior captain. Outside of the pool, I enjoy spending most of my time with my friends & family and am a frequent watcher of old Disney movies. I’m looking forward to this summer and coaching alongside Tom and all the other coaches with the energy and spirit that motivated me through all my past summers as a Shark!
This is my first summer at BHAC! I swam for 10 years at Forest Hills Swim Club, Derby middle school, and Seaholm high school. I also played water polo through Seaholm for four years. I just finished my first year at the University of Michigan. I am studying nautical/marine engineering, which is very fitting considering I’ve spent a very large part of my life in water. Other than swimming, the thing I like to do the most is cook or bake. I’m very excited to begin my summer with BHAC!
